If you can't beat them without the mine, you need to beat this level once (just use this strategy). Then play it again and place the mine there so at least most of them get hit. If you can't do that, then you have to change the strategy quite a bit in the beginning. I've found that it's extremely pointless to stack the place with gunners if you don't have enough.
